J.D. Power voted Shea homes the No. 1 builder in the company and that title was bought and paid for by Shea Homes. The survey is only done with HOAs and not the actually homeowners.
The actual homeowners hate Shea homes and the majority will never buy another. Shea sold me lies and tried to build a substandard home. I had to hire a building inspector just to get Shea to build my home according to Arizona standards. They told me they wouldn't build behind my house and they did. They told me they had convenances to protect me and they wouldn't uphold them for fear that people wouldn't buy.
They people an absolute fool in charge of the COA that did more ass kissing than his job. I sent their board a request for a meeting and they ignored it. No meeting has been set up as of this date (3 years later). Every time you complained about their personnel they tried to distance themselves by saying it was the COA's problem and every person in the COA was paid by Shea! They rigged the vote when the homeowners actually took over the HOA.
We now have a president that will not enforce the CC&Rs and gives approvals for more spending thus upping our dues. This guy is so stupid I told him kids were playing in the streets (we live in a 55+ community) and his answer was "kids will be kids". I moved to Trilogy to get away from kids. But he is President and Shea put him there and now he and the other board members are GODS! They ran off one manager we had because she was trying to enforce the rules and do what was best for the entire community.
Children don't obey the pool times and rules. Heck, they even put kids in diapers in the pool and the HOA won't stop it. We have gate greeters that are overpaid and under worked. Most of their time is spent checking golf players through the gates and that has nothing to do with the homeowners. Yet, we pay $124000.00 a year to pay these people. The golfcourse pays us $12000.00. Hmmmm, yep our president approved that fiasco!!! This golf course should be paying $80000.00 a year for the gate keepers!
Shea wanted to finish selling the homes in Trilogy at Power Ranch so they gave away up to $100000.00 off on homes thus reducing our home values and now no one can sell their homes and make any money. Actually, people that bought in Trilogy at Power Ranch a year ago find themselves 30-80 thousand dollars upside down on their home value. It is like the president of IBM flooding the market with his stock just to get out. The SEC would not let him do it and the Govenor of AZ shouldn't let Shea do it. But AZ is making too much money off of Shea and so they get what they want.
Don't buy a Shea Home unless you want to buy a home that is not built right or you just like to be lied to. Remember, once you sign the paperwork they have you and there is nothing you can do! They will stop taking your calls and emails and forget you even exist!
