December 30, 2007

PublicIP is a WiFi (Wireless Access) Control System that is easy to use and administer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 30, 2007 --

The PublicIP Wireless Access Control system is built on a client-server concept where the actual control system resides at a Datacenter located in Mclean, Virginia (across the river from Washington, DC and a wireless access controller client running on computer hardware at your specific location. The equipment based at your location can be a general purpose computer system with contains a minimum of a CD-Rom drive, a Floppy Drive, an Intel Pentium-Class (586) CPU processor with a minimum clock-rate of 350-MHz and a minimum of 128-Megs of RAM memory - no hard drive is required. The minimum system requirements basically is an inexpensive "spare" computer! The system does require two network interface cards compatible with the linux 2.4 kernel but again this is very inexpensive hardware. If you are not so inclined to "build" a system to run the PublicIP Gateway software you can purchase pre-built and tested systems at http://store.wifi-shopping.net or at http://shop.ewcllc.net, both site are owned and operated by EWC LLC (Ether-Net Wireless Communications, LLC based in Florida).

The "Control" of the system is through the "Server" side of the system using a web-based GUI interface to configure, control and generate usage reports. You can, if you don't need access control other than just a "Splash Page" for the client to see, use the system in what is referred to as "Open Mode". There are two different systems, one is a "Free" system based on NoCat (a wireless networking portal program used to control access) which is free to use. The caveat of the free system is it is not supported and is running on one physical server.

The second "Control" system is based on a wireless networking portal program called "WiFi-Dog". This control system is not free and offers a great deal more control over the wireless access system, usage reports, client configurations and is running on multiple physical servers in a cluster configuration for redundancy. The costs associated with the Premium system are VERY respectable and affordable (about the cost of a lunch in an eating establishment, and not a very expensive one at that!). To find out more information about the PublicIP system please check: http://www.publicip.net for the free control system and http://www.publicip.com for the Premium system.

As pointed out earlier you don't have to build equipment to use the system as you can find complete appliances (specific use) systems already built and optimized for the PublicIP system at http://store.ewcllc.net or http://shop.wifi-shopping.net. Not only are the systems already built and tested they also are built using solid-state drives for program and data storage to remove or eliminate all rotating critical parts within the system to increase the reliability of the system.

Who uses such a system? How about Hospitals, Libraries, Eatery's, Coffee Shops and Hotels and Motels around the world (literally). Check out http://www.publicip.com/directory.php to see a listing of current locations around the world using the PublicIP Premium system!

Ether-Net Communications is in the business of supplying wireless hot-spot access equipment built and optimized for the PublicIP Hot-Spot Control system and is owned and operated by Gary N. McKinney.
