The financial giant Bank of America has come together with Brighter Planet™ to promote climate control and investing in clean and renewable energy sources. On November 29th, 2007 Bank of America announced their plan to release the Bank of America Brighter Planet™ Visa® Card, which, together with consumer spending, will contribute funding to combat such climate problems as global warming and pollution due to coal burning emissions.

The Brighter Planet™ Visa® Card offers the following benefits:
Automatic point redemptions to help build renewable energy projects
1 EarthSmart Point for every $1 net retail
1,000 EarthSmart bonus points with first transaction
1,000 EarthSmart bonus points for signing up for paperless statements
For every two base points earned through December 2008, Bank of America will make a matching contribution of one additional point
Card issued by FIA Card Services, N.A.
Consumers can use their card to start earning points towards a greener, cleaner earth. The card will be available at Bank of America banking centers in early 2008. Consumers can apply online today at http://www.cardrewards.net/bankofamerica.php
In addition, through Brighter Planet's website http://www.brighterplanet.com/, cardholders can calculate their carbon footprint, learn ways to reduce their own environmental impact, participate in an online community to get more involved in the green movement, monitor clean energy projects funded from their card use and track their footprint reduction progress from the use of the card.
