New children’s adventure story entitled RUFUS AND THE BIGGEST DIAMOND IN THE WORLD by Michael Elsmer

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 7, 2008 -- In his travels, Rufus meets Friar Tuck from the “Adventures of Robin Hood” and is later captured by Long John Silver from “Treasure Island”. He is abandoned on the African coast and rescued by Harry Quartermain, the son of the narrator of “King Solomon’s Mines,” who takes Rufus on a perilous journey across a vast desert and up a towering cliff where they eventually find King Solomon’s treasure chamber. Of course, there is a further twist at the end of the tale that children will thoroughly enjoy.

About the Author:

Michael Elsmere lives in Devon in England. For over 30 years, Michael was an English Language/ Literature teacher and lecturer and taught in a wide variety of educational establishments from primary school to university level in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has previously written a number of short stories and a second children’s story "When the Woods Went Walking" for children/teenagers 10 to 16 which is set several hundred years into the future and is at work on a third children's novel set in a time when climate change and a shortage of oil have had a devastating effect on western civilisation

“Rufus lost his parents one autumn evening whilst out shopping. You might think that this was a somewhat tragic event, something that would haunt his life and deliver him into despair and depression but the truth of it was that he was quite glad. He had a novel and delicious notion of freedom of being able to do just as he pleased when he pleased. Putting a few essential things in his pocket and packing a small rucksack with chocolate, gobstoppers a torch, a knife and some socks he set out on a search that was to take some time. His father had once related to him a tale of a diamond, a diamond so large so dazzlingly magnificent and perfect that once seen was desired by all. Because the greed to own it caused so many evil acts and violence one wise king had hidden it in place so secret that it would never again be gazed upon by mortal kind. Rufus determined to find this wonderful jewel.”
