United States of America (Press Release) January 7, 2008 --
411US.info announced today that it has dropped its link to foxnews.com from its website because of Fox News’ exclusion of Ron Paul from their GOP debate January 6.
411US.info - is a news and information directory linking to many of the best mainstream websites on the Internet, both national and local.
Dr. Ron Paul (R-TX) - is an 18-year congressman who garnered 10% of the Republican caucus vote in Iowa, placing ahead of Rudy Giuliani (4%). Polls show Paul with numbers of 5-10% of the vote in the New Hampshire primary, ahead of Fred Thompson (1-5%).
Paul raised over $19 million in the fourth quarter, reportedly from tens of thousands of small donors averaging just under $90 per donation. Paul’s total for the fourth quarter rivals New York Senator Hillary Clinton’s $20 million for the quarter.
During his campaign, Paul has presented outspoken views consistent with his conservative Libertarian and strict Constitutionalist principles, often in the face of derision from establishment figures. He has been especially critical of the invasion and war in Iraq, what he says is the squandering of the U.S. national treasury for military interventionist purposes, and the role of U.S. foreign policy as world policeman.
The New Hampshire GOP - is the organization responsible for Republican Party affairs in New Hampshire. New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen released this statement:
"The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field. Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures. Consistent with that tradition, we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums.
…
"This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.
While we understand that FOX News continues to move forward it is with regret, the New Hampshire Republican Party hereby withdraws as a partner in this forum."
