United States of America (Press Release) January 10, 2008 --
Sacramento, CA (January 10, 2008) — Popular mommy-bloggers Izzy Dean and Cristina Matthews have teamed up to launch the hip new website, Green Mom Finds (http://greenmomfinds.com/)
Fed up with the recent onslaught of toy recalls and media alerts about the dangers of chemicals in children’s environment, Dean and Matthews decided it was time to act. The duo developed Green Mom Finds as a one-stop resource for busy moms (and dads!) who are looking for safer, more environmentally-friendly products and services.
The mission of the site is to make it easier for these time-strapped parents by bringing the information to them.
“As moms ourselves, we understand that time and energy are at a premium,” says Dean. “It’s not always possible to search high and low for safer or more eco-friendly alternatives.”
That’s where Green Mom Finds can help. Visitors to the site will find short reviews of safer, more earth-friendly products. Beyond product features, the site is also a resource for parents looking for easy tips and ideas for how to tread more lightly on the environment.
“We don’t want to be a site just about stuff,” says Matthews. “Especially since an important part of going green means buying less stuff. So our site will also offer lots of tips, news and resources, too.”
The site’s green directory offers many resources geared towards parents – from where to find out which popular brands of children’s shampoos contain hazardous chemicals to how to find recycling centers for just about everything. Product giveaways and discounts are also offered.
Despite their website venture, Matthews admits that she isn’t perfect when it comes to living a green lifestyle. “I will admit to taking long showers now and then and forgetting my canvas bags when I go to the grocery store. But the important thing is that I’m becoming more conscious of how my choices have an impact and I’m trying to do my best, and I think that’s the case for a lot of moms out there.”
Matthews and Dean agree that going “green” doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing proposition, and that every green choice made - no matter how small - is significant. They hope their website will be a helpful resource for moms who might not have otherwise known where to start.
