United States of America (Press Release) January 12, 2008 --
Award winning journalist and ordained minister Reverend Liz Walker will be the featured guest minister at Unity Cambridge on Sunday, January 27th at 11:00A.M. Walker will kick off the church’s Season of Nonviolence a 64-day educational campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities. This international event honors the vision of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for an empowered nonviolent world. Walker will speak about how her personal journey of faith, calling, community and healing led her to produce the powerful documentary film A Glory From The God which profiles Boston preacher and pediatrician Reverend Dr. Gloria White-Hammond’s work to end the genocide in Sudan.
“Our spiritual community is founded on principles which espouses positive, practical Christianity and promotes a way of life that leads to health, prosperity, happiness and peace of mind through the practices of affirmative prayer, visioning, personal growth, meditation, continuing spiritual education and humanitarian services,” says Carole Cornelison, chairwoman of Unity Cambridge’s Steering Committee. “We are delighted that Reverend Liz will share her powerful message with our congregation about how each person can pursue their own path of purpose and passion through the practice of nonviolence and make a difference in the world at large,” states Cornelison.
After twenty-five, highly-acclaimed years at the WBZ-TV News anchor desk, Liz Walker has risen to new challenges. In 2005, she successfully completed the masters program at Harvard Divinity School, and took a different turn in her television career as host and executive producer of "Sunday with Liz Walker." The show, which focuses on the power of community, is an extension of Liz's new ministry. An ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Walker has chosen to combine her communication skills with her spiritual passion to serve the world.
