Fabulous four-day writing workshop/holiday takes place on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia in October 2008

The island’s laid back ambience makes it the perfect setting for Absorbing Writing, a four-day writing holiday for people who want to release the words within.
The workshop is not for professional wordsmiths but anyone looking to bring their words to life, including small business owners, bloggers and expats.
The focus is on non-fiction. Writing with rapport, capturing the essence of a place and finding your authentic voice are some of the skills covered.
But forget boring lectures in the classroom. Group sessions will take place on the sunny hotel terrace or in a waterside bar.
Time will also be made for leisurely strolls through Alghero’s old town, people watching in a pavement cafe and wine tasting with the experts.
British author D H Lawrence, who penned the controversial classic Lady Chatterley’s Lover, is just one famous writer to fall under Sardinia’s spell. In his travel memoirs, Sea and Sardinia, he wrote: “Here is a place that does not belong to the present day world.”
Writing coach Joanna Young, who is organising the workshop together with freelance writer and Sardinian resident Emma Bird, said: “To write well we sometimes need to step out of our present day world, change pace and see things differently. Sardinia is the perfect environment for us to do just that.”
