A new meal plan has been devised by those who eat cheaper than most in the country, college students. The meal plan includes different varieties of ways to eat on a mere $2 a day. This originally the only goal, led to the discovery of how nutritious the meal plan really is.
The average diet is extremely comparable to the standard recommended intake values of common food characteristics that many health-conscious people are now monitoring in their diet such as calories, carbohydrates, fat, and protein. Based on values for a standard 2000 calorie diet, the meal plan is approximately 6% more than recommended calorie intake, 13% more than recommended fat intake, 34% more than recommended protein intake, and right on the carbohydrate intake. Even though the fat intake may seem marginally high it is easily offset by other nutritional values gained by the qualities of foods in the diet. For example, foods such as peanut butter contain casein protein which is designed to keep your metabolism working for a longer period of time, in turn burning more calories and more fat.
The diet, if combined with exercise and limited indulgence of excessively unhealthy foods, can become a quality and extremely cost effective weight loss program. Students are experimenting right now with how much weight they can lose and early estimates are as high as 15-20 pounds in the first month.
