Milwaukee, WI — Public Allies is delighted to announce the appointment of Cris Ros Dukler as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective November 12, 2007. She will be responsible for administration and personnel management, providing leadership to the senior management team and working closely with the national Board of Directors. She will report directly to Paul Schmitz, Chief Executive Officer.
Cris brings more than 30 years experience of executive leadership in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Chris is a reformer who led state regulatory departments in Texas and Wisconsin, and served as COO of a regional nonprofit overseeing an $11 million budget and 400 employees working to improve foster care services in two states. She is an entrepreneur who invented “electronic benefit transfer cards” a debit card that replaced food stamps, eliminating fraud and enhancing the dignity of users. After selling her business, Cris joined UPC Health Network, where she built a business in Wisconsin and Illinois employing 350 workers that became the most successful new unit in the company with a net profit of $80 million. Cris is an advisory board member of Scholastic, Inc., has served as vice-chair of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, an advisory board member of Public Allies Milwaukee, and has held several other volunteer roles.

Cris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from the Philippine Normal University and a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Hawaii. Cris is also a graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program (GEDP). GEDP, an intensive educational program for top executives in Texas state agencies and universities, is a collaboration between the Texas Governor’s Office and The University of Texas at Austin Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.
