A patient story of Hip Replacement surgery in India

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 21, 2008 --

Myself Aaron Fred,50, from Australia, Canberra. I am extremely satisfied with the results of Total Hip Replacement surgery in India, so I decided to write a short page of my experiences. I am a professional hockey coach. I think, there is no need to explain you that how much coaches are active, anyways, 71 official tour victories and a record 20 major championship wins, are quite remarkable. Two years ago, while playing the final on the eve of a tournament, I mis-hit an approach shot and subsequently suffered pain in my hip joints.I thought that the pain is mild. But the pain was becoming worse day by day and I was suffering from a long painful journey. The condition was, that I can’t even bend myself,if so I suffered a lot. I went to my doctor, he told me that cause of chronic hip pain and disability is hip arthritis. It typically affects patients over 50 years of age. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and traumatic arthritis are the most common forms of this disease. Other factors that can contribute to developing hip arthritis include traumatic injuries to the hip and fractures to the bone around the joint. Hip arthritis symptoms tend to progress as the condition worsens.

What is interesting about hip arthritis is that symptoms do not always progress steadily with time. Often patients report good months and bad months or symptom changes with the weather. This is important to understand because comparing the symptoms of hip arthritis on one particular day may not accurately represent the overall progression of the condition.
The most common symptoms of hip arthritis are:
· Pain with activities
·Limited range of motion
· Stiffness of the hip
· Walking with a limp

After having a full knowledge of cause of my pain in hip joints I asked my doctor, what should I do know? As my life has become steady, and being an active person I can’t handle this any more . Routine and pleasurable activities like shopping with my wife Barbara,or playing in the backyard has become unbearable chores Can you suggest me any solution that can workout!!!!!! He said, that the Hip Replacement surgery is the only solution. As in this stage, every patient prefers this surgery only. I was very afraid with the name of SURGERY!!!!!!, but this was the only option that I had. So I finally decide to have Hip Replacement surgery. I asked my doctor to refer me an orthopedic surgeon in my own country Australia, but the doctor said that if you are planning to have your surgery here, then it will be a very expensive surgery. I will suggest you to go to India for Total Hip Replacement surgery as many international patients go there just because of the cost and the medical healthcare facilities they provide. The medical treatments are avon similarly as in Unites States, UK, Canada, Australia or any other western countries. They provides a low cost surgery to all international patients. The prices in India are very affordable including boarding and lodging facilities and with holiday packages too. Now-a-days there are many medical tourism company who manages the surgeries for international patients at a very less price. But I will suggest you the one and only fly2india4health, a famous medical tourism company, specially known for orthopedic surgery in India.

He showed me some orthopedic cases that were been successfully handled by that medical tourism company. I agreed to have my Total Hip Replacement surgery in India. I searched the whole information of that medical tourism company through internet, and was satisfied that my surgery is going to be held in a proper hands. I mailed them including my all problems of hip joints or hip arthritis. They gave me a reply in which a brief description of cost, procedure was given. They offered me a very affordable price. So I gave my consent and was ready to go for Total Hip Replacement Surgery in India. He told me not to bother about anything as everything was arranged by them only at an affordable cost. From visa to lodging etc. After this whole procedure, I went to India for my medical tour. I landed on Santacruz Airport, Mumbai. I was received by their consultants with a warm and hearty welcome. What was the name of that hotel???? Hmmmmmmmmmm…………. Ya I got it!!!! Best Western Emerald. I stayed there during my surgery. Next day I went to my orthopedic surgeon who was going to treat me. He told me the procedure, risks, benefits. He told me this may seem obvious, but you should understand what is being done, how it should benefit you, what the potential risks are, and how you can help improve your outcome. He also told me that people who have good exercise and nutritional habits, and those who do not smoke, tend to have a faster recovery from surgery. If anyone is going to be having surgery in the future, try the following:
Do not smoke
Eat well
Be fit

Day of the surgery

The hospital gave me complete instructions before the procedure. I arrived early that morning as the hospital operating rooms are on a tight schedule, being late to the hospital could mean having to reschedule the procedure, and wasting of time and resources. I brought my insurance information and medical documents with me. I also brought very light clothing like pajamas etc with me because doctors had adviced me to put on some loose clothes during surgery. That morning I haven’t eat or drunk anything as on doctors instructions. This includes not having a glass of water in the middle of the night before surgery! The reason for this is primarily due to the anesthesia that can cause nausea and vomiting if the stomach is not empty. I had a bag of toiletries and some loose comfortable clothes. After sometime I went to the operating room, laid down on operating table, and I was given anesthesia by anesthesiologist. Then I felt unconscious and don’t know what happen exactly .

After the surgery

Immediately following the procedure, I was awakened in the recovery room. Still groggy from the anesthesia, I do not remember that area well. Once the anesthesia was worn off, I returned to my room on the main patient floor. Then I met my friends with whom I came to India, and relaxed for some time. However with many procedures physical therapy was given immediately. After the surgery, there was some pain, I was unable to move my hips or to move here and there or any other activities but doctors told me, not to worry about it. After surgery patients suffer from a mild pain, but that’s ok! I was given some minor exercises so that my joints get back to work. After some days I was back with a “NEW AARON FRED”. I was able to play hockey as before. I was very happy and satisfied with my results of Total Hip Replacement surgery in India. My doctor and I made a decision of this surgery and was the best possible thing to help improve my life. Now that I have seen first hand all the people and all the work that goes into creating a hip like mine, I want to make sure you understand how much I appreciate that work. I am so impressed with the attention to detail and the level of perfection that went into each step!

This medical trip also included a holiday tour package at an affordable price. So I went forward to explore Goa, because I heard about its beauty. After having a view of Goa, I realized that how beautiful India is. After having a fun trip I went back to Australia, and you know what, my wife was very happy because now we both can dance on our 26th wedding anniversary. Me and my wife, both really enjoyed dancing on our wedding anniversary. I want to thank all the employees of fly2india4health, who gave me a new life. "I feel like a little boy who has got a bicycle for Christmas. And this little boy always wanted a bicycle and he finally got it. And he rode it and he rode it and he had this feeling that it was too good to be true. I know you hear a lot of these stories from people like me, but somewhere I think that my experience of Total Hip Replacement surgery in India can help you a lot.
