Connecticut Construction Workers Expand Informational Protest Against Turner Construction, Milford, CT This Week As Evidence Of An Unregistered Subcontractor Is Discovered At The Brunswick School, Gre
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 22, 2008 --
(Hartford, Connecticut) – As the massive week long informational protest, sponsored by the Connecticut Laborers’ District Council, continues and expands by Connecticut construction workers in front of the Turner Construction Company Offices, 440 Wheelers Farm Road, Milford, Connecticut, Connecticut Laborers’ District Council leader Charles LeConche requested that state officials begin a thorough investigation into Turner Construction hiring practices as evidence of an unregistered Turner Construction subcontractor surfaced this week. The subcontractor, BN Construction Group, Milford, PA is presently working masonry and concrete duties at the Brunswick School construction site in Greenwich, CT.
“This is just another example of how Turner Construction of Connecticut is not playing by the rules and in general is just a bad corporate citizen. First, we presented to state officials months ago information about a Turner Construction subcontractor, Maitz Demolition, which hired undocumented workers. We thought that was bad enough considering the nature of that company was demolition. However, now we have another Turner Construction subcontractor, BN Construction Group of Milford, PA which is working at a school with children nearby. This company is not registered with the State of Connecticut, is not bonded and does not pay any state taxes. Without a doubt, state officials should immediately begin an investigation into this matter,” said Charles LeConche, business manager, Connecticut Laborers’ District Council.
In light of the new evidence, Connecticut construction workers will expand their informational protest starting on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily in front of the Brunswick School, 100 Maher Avenue, Greenwich, CT, www.brunswickschool.org.
According to labor records, BN Construction Group is located at 400 West Hartford Street, Milford, PA 18337. The company’s phone number is (973) 293-3546 and email is SNSConstruction@embarqmail.com. The owner is Billy Shi. According to its Web site, Turner Construction provides general contractor and construction management services.
