United States of America (Press Release) January 25, 2008 --
NeuroKids Foundation was started by Shennendoah (age 12) and Bo Erik (age 9) Hollsten. They created the foundation to teach kids about the brain. They are starting a program in their school district called Week of the Brain to celebrate Brain Awareness Week and are in the process of creating a Booklet about the Brain to give out to students. They have set up interviews with two famous authors, Rita Carter who wrote Mapping the Mind and Steven Pinker, who wrote The Language Instinct, The Blank Slate, and How the Mind Works (amongst others). The Hollsten kids are speaking with members of the press and are also preparing to interview the Director of the MIND Institute at UC Davis. The kids learned about autism and are preparing to interview the director to understand more about how this affects young people and what is being done to help people with autism. NeuroKids has raised over $1300 in pledge money to pay for printing their booklet and expenses of running the foundation, including the building of a website. Bo Erik has build the website with his iWeb software and handles the foundations audio and video needs. Both kids work hard to run their foundation and serve on the board as officers.
