Helio Mysto Overview

The Helio Mysto is a compact slider with the potential to be Helio's most popular phone. With a smaller footprint then the Ocean and solid build quality, Helio Mysto should turn heads. The feature set on the Mysto is very similar to other Helio devices except for the battery life which is twice the power of all other Helio models with a talk time of 8.0 hours. Helio Mysto is an excellent phone for those that are looking for a small footprint phone without sacrificing features.


Helio Mysto Design
Compared to the Helio Ocean, the Helio Mysto is smaller, and half the width. The Helio Mysto is a solid slider compared to the Chocolate; you get a solid feel from the Mysto as you open and close the device with the assistance of a spring assisted slide mechanism.

Samsung has done an excellent job with this phone design and has been able to put together high-end features on a mid range price tag. The weight of the Helio Mysto is quite impressive clocking in at 1/3rd of the weight of the Ocean. Samsung has done an excellent job on the design of the Mysto and results speak for itself with the U600, the base model of the Mysto being one of the most popular handsets in the European markets.


Helio Mysto Features

The Helio Mysto boasts a wide array of features that we have gotten used to from Helio handsets. The biggest standout of the Helio Mysto is the strong signal strength that it is able to hone from the new internal antenna design from Samsung. From field studies we are able to get strong signal strength on the Helio Mysto where signal cut off for the Helio Ocean. The GPS capability is also a standout for the Helio Mysto, which beat out a head to head comparison with the Tom-Tom GPS device taking advantage of new Garmin options on Helio phones. We would have loved to see a QWERTY option with the Helio Mysto, but we are willing to sacrifice the QWERTY option for the smaller footprint that the Helio Mysto is able to offer.

The one touch Helio-up feature set improvement is well noted on the Helio Mysto, with easy uploading of videos to YouTube and photos to Flickr. Compared to the Helio Ocean, the Mysto boasts a faster response time as well as a more solid build quality. Helio delayed the launch of the Mysto to conduct further lab testing and the result is a more solid phone.
