Switzerland, Swiss Confederation (Press Release) January 30, 2008 --
Kreuzlingen (Switzerland), February 4th: More than 200,000 hotel guests chose this year’s HolidayCheck-Award winners. It is the third time this award is given out. The HolidayCheck-Award is one of “the most wanted” prizes in the travel industry, completely decided upon by the hotel visitors. With a big party the winners will be honoured on March 5th in Berlin.
The award is based on the evaluation of 214,881 submitted hotel reviews, which have been collected by HolidayCheck over the tourist season of 2007 (November 2006 to October 2007.) Only 99 of all hotels in the world will take the important trophy home. The first public prize of this kind is equally valued by the travel industry and the travelers themselves. It is based on a sophisticated calculation.
The popular holiday destinations Spain, Turkey, Greece, and Egypt are once again the big winners, followed by several hotels in Tunisia, the Dominican Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, and Thailand. Also among the winners are hotels in exotic destinations, such as Indonesia, Kenya, Cuba, the Maldives, Venezuela, Cape Verde Islands, and the United Arab Emirates.
Going along with the risen popularity of the award, HolidayCheck will host its own Award-Show during the ITB fair in Berlin. “Music and food will take you on a world-wide trip, reflecting the guests’ internationality,” explains company’s spokesman Dr. Axel Jockwer.
In times of Travel 2.0 travelers’ opinions play a very important role in holiday planning.
Once again great resonance from the industry and public press is expected. “We are very happy to welcome numerous representatives of hotels, big hotel chains, tour operators, and other tourist institutions to our Award-Show in Berlin,” says CEO Hakan Oektem.
