Home Matters Helps Area Residents Sell Homes Faster and/or for More Money in a Challenging Market
For_Immediate_Release:

United States of America (Press Release) January 30, 2008 -- WISH-TV, as part of a weekly collaboration with Angie’s List, aired a segment about the local home staging industry during its 5:00 p.m. news program on Monday, January 28, 2008. Featured in this segment is Indianapolis-based home staging company, Home Matters, LLC. News anchor and general assignment reporter David Barras interviewed Linda Barnett, the founder of Home Matters; Kevin Elson, the homeowner of a property recently staged by Home Matters; and Angie Hicks, creator of Angie’s List.

In the segment, Elson said that the home was on the market for about five months before he purchased it. Prior to listing the home again last November, Elson hired Home Matters to coordinate the property’s presentation. In addition to staging, the service Elson sought also included a consultation on condition, updating and color choices. The home was updated and repainted before Barnett staged it on November 27, 2007; Elson accepted an offer just 45 days later. Barnett explained how adding furnishings and lifestyle accessories to an empty home helps to make an emotional connection with buyers. Barnett added that the ultimate goal of staging is to increase the marketability of a property. Hicks discussed how to go about finding and interviewing a reputable staging company that will meet the client’s needs. Hicks advised that referrals, past statistics and before-and-after photos of a company’s projects are important to review before choosing a home staging resource.

Barnett—an Accredited Staging Professional, interior decorator and former realtor—founded Home Matters in 2004, and has since worked with more than 500 homeowners throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area, helping them to sell their homes for an average 97% of the list price and in an average of 42 days on the market after staging. Barnett and Home Matters have been featured in numerous media, including The Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis House & Home Magazine, Indianapolis Business Journal, REAL ESTATE Lifestyle Magazine and FOX 59 News.

This WISH-TV segment is part of a weekly feature about companies included on Angie’s List, a consumer-driven organization that collects customer satisfaction ratings on local service companies in more than 250 categories. More than 600,000 members across 124 cities use Angie’s List. Home Matters has been a rated member of Angie’s List since 2005.
