2008 PA State Dart Tourament Underway

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 30, 2008 -- The Pennsylvania State Dart Tournament has been running for the last 40 years. It is the longest running competitive dart tournament in the world, and it is underway right now.

The tournament consists of two rounds of play. There are qualifying rounds, and the finals round. Qualifiers are held one each weekend between January 19th and February 17th.

During a qualifying round, each team shoots a maximum of four matches. During a match, two teams play a best-of-three game competition. Winning teams advance, and team that loses two matches is eliminated from the tournament.

At the end of the day, teams with a record of 3-1 earn a seat in the loser's bracket of the finals. Teams with an unblemished record of 4-0 will have a seat in the winner's bracket on the day of the finals.

Finals are held Saturday, February 23rd, with a 10am start time.

The tournament is being held at the Treskow Fire Company, in Treskow PA. There is still time to shoot in this year's tournament.

There are no average handicaps for the State Tournament. Teams consist of up to four players, with three shooters per game. Interested teams should contact Joe Haganey at (570) 455-8665 for more information.
