FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 2, 2008 --
Kelowna software firm Wohlstand Applications (WA) is moving swiftly to establish itself as a leader in building sophisticated Rich Internet Applications (RIA’s). Just one week after opening its doors WA has released the Beta version of SmartGoals.net, its first RIA application. Based upon the popular “S.M.A.R.T” (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) goal setting method, SmartGoals.net offers users tools for setting and managing their goals. With a steam-lined interface, the online application is already being heralded as easy to learn and use, lightweight and available anytime/anywhere: everything that a “killer app” needs to be in the Web 2.0 era.
WA is part of a software revolution spawned mainly by the emergence of a new generation of powerful, sophisticated online applications made possible by increasingly powerful Internet technology. From the impressive suite of Google app’s such as GMail and Google Docs, to the project management system BaseCamp, software of all forms is shifting rapidly online. “With recent advances in technology we can now build the vast majority of desktop software online. More importantly we can build it to be highly accessible, affordable and effective because of the advantages the Internet provides” says Joel Milne, WA’s founder. What does this mean for business and home users? “Over coming years, you will see launches of more streamlined online equivalents of almost every category of software for both business and personal use... in addition expect to see many new innovative applications and tighter integration between diverse applications” Milne says.
WA’s hoping to make a big splash in the software pond with its SmartGoals.net application and is aiming to attract several thousand users during 2008. SmartGoals.net users will pay one fixed monthly fee ($10-12 per month) to access the program as WA adopts the Software-As-a-Service (SAS) delivery model offered by most web applications today. Technical support, training materials and even online courses will be provided at no added cost as WA aims to gear itself towards being as “people-friendly” as it is technically savvy. As Milne puts it; “One of the keys to our success is to take a 3-pronged approach to the company bottom-line, being accountable for social and environmental performance as well as financial. From a social perspective, that means identifying opportunities to develop software that spurs positive social action”. Whether it spurs social action or not, SmartGoals.net will be added to a rapidly growing list of exciting cutting-edge online software.
