Barbados (Press Release) February 4, 2008 --
THE MANAGEMENT of Horizon Event Planners (HEP), the island’s foremost event management company, is confident that the fast-growing event management segment of the global hospitality industry holds tremendous potential not only for its own business, but for Barbados’ vital tourism product as well.
Citing the three most recently concluded international events managed by HEP as examples, Shelley Miller, Marketing & Sales Manager with Barbados Conference Services Limited, said that bringing major events to the island provided HEP with a “unique opportunity” to enhance their ability to strengthen their award-winning services.
“Within a four-week period,” she said, “we successfully hosted the 41st General Assembly of the Inter-American Centre of Tax Administrations (CIAT), the 23rd Annual Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition of the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Organisations (CANTO), and the 28th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of the Governments of the Caribbean Community.”
Miller added that when considering the event requirements, these three conferences varied greatly in scope and complexity and “the HEP team, particularly Sophia Catwell and Abigail Jones who were lead coordinators on these projects, further cemented HEP’s reputation as the island’s foremost event management company through the quality service they provided to the satisfaction of all three clients.”
“But in addition to that,” she said, “these types of events present us with the unique opportunity to build on our invaluable management and coordination experience on one hand and to promote the services of our three divisions – HEP, Horizon Coaches & Tours and Sherbourne Conference Centre – to a wide cross-section of international visitors who are all prospects for future business.”
Further, Miller explained that over the years, BCSL had developed synergies with many of the leading providers of tourism-related products and services to create a comprehensive destination and event management service that would allow the company’s successes to be multiplied throughout the economy.
“These linkages with other service providers mean that as we take advantage of new international business prospects and benefit from new opportunities, our network of service providers will have a wider scope to also take advantage of these openings,” Miller added. “Ultimately, we benefit and so too does Barbados’ tourism sector and the wider national economy.”
