LIVE NATION PROVIDES WIND IN WOODFISH'S SAILS; BAND TO OPEN FOR FOGHAT AT BLENDER'S GRAMERCY THEATRE
With an official announcement from Live Nation on January 28, 2008, Woodfish will be the first regional grossing act to support national headliners in NYC for the international recognized booking and entertainment company, Live Nation.
Woodfish is making rock n' roll the old fashioned way, by writing songs which electrify and seduce not money hungry media moguls but rather the smiling faces which stare back at them every night in the barrooms which they call their homes. It is this business ethic that is earning the band a dedicated fan base throughout the Northeast.
The recent push in booking opportunities has come on the heels of a lineup change which added lead guitarist Doug Mikula, and vocalist Jimmy Counihan to the fold. The band is currently penning and arranging the compositions which will make up their debut LP; date for release is still left to be determined. Woodfish was picked as New Jersey's Shore's performer of the year in 2006 and has performed along side acts such as Keller Williams, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, The Spin Doctors' Chris Barron, Particle, Oteil & The Peacemakers (of the Allman Brothers Band), Will Hoge, deSol, and Devon Allman's Honeytribe. The band has also earned honorable mention from Q104.3's Ken Dashow.
Woodfish consists of Jimmy Counihan (vox), Doug Mikula (guitar), Dominic Kalorin (drums), Steve Kalorin (bass), and Don Honeycutt (sax).
Creating an intoxicating musical style by combining elements of rock, progressive, jam band and funk music fused with an explosively energetic stage show, Woodfish plays the music they love. Whether it's to 300 people or 30,000 screaming fans, "Woodfish are musicians in it for the right reasons," bassist Steve Kalorin will explain.
