Can You Conquer Your Inner Demons?

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 5, 2008 -- Everyone has their inner demons, and horror author Kody Boye is challenging that in his new online serial novel 'Inner Demons.' Boye uses strong characterization and solid writing to create a believable character with believable problems.

Kody Boye broke into the horror scene with his short story '[A] Prom Queen's Revenge' when he was just fourteen, the story having been in May 2007's Yellow Mama Webzine, and since then he has gone on to create a name for himself. With his new, online serial novel 'Inner Demons,' Boye hopes to bring a message to viewers about the world and how hard life can be on some people.

Kody Boye's always been attracted to the dark side, but when he began writing Inner Demons in January 2008, he didn't know where it was going. He figured that it was just going to sit in his hard drive until it was edited and then sent out to publishers. The thought to post it online was a spur-of-the-moment idea, and since then, Boye's been happy with the results. With people taking notice and the blog getting some views, Boye believes that the novel will do well.

Inner Demons is about a young gay man named Dean McAllen, who moves out of Idaho and to Denver in hopes of getting away from the teenage angst and depression that has surrounded the earlier part of his life. Now sixteen and out of school, he moves to his aunt's house in hope of finding love. When he does find love from a man named Brad, he begins to get odd calls in the middle of the night after their dates. Brad claims that it's just 'doorbell-ditching teenagers,' but Dean has other ideas, and he's starting to get worried about Brad. Brad was upset, more than what a few 'doorbell-ditching teenagers' could do.

“Inner Demons isn't exactly a horror novel,” Boye says. “I'd like to think of it as a coming-of-age story. The novel doesn't rely on dark themes to make it go along (although there are dark themes in this work.) I write Inner Demons in the way that you care about the main character, Dean, and so you want to continue following his story.”'

If asked what's the inspiration around this, Boye says, “Life.” “ 'Inner Demons' is a book about conquering problems and fears, and at the same time finding love and happiness. It's a book of opposites. There's love and hate, happiness and depression. 'Inner Demons' is different because many people are afraid to write about what teenage life REALLY is. I'm not. That's what makes this story a little different.”
