United States of America (Press Release) February 6, 2008 --
Feb. 1, 2008…Starwood Vacation Ownership, Inc., the fractional and vacation ownership division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT), launched sales this month at its newest vacation ownership resort in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Sheraton Steamboat Resort will undergo a complete property-wide renovation that will include converting a portion of the property to 45 luxury two-and three-bedroom vacation ownership villas.
The Sheraton Steamboat Resort, located at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort and adjacent to the gondola, will begin construction at the conclusion of this year’s ski season. The first phase is expected to open in late 2008.
“We are very excited to add this resort to our world-class portfolio of vacation ownership properties. The resort is conveniently located just steps away from some of Colorado’s premier skiing. The two- and three- bedroom villas will be luxuriously furnished and are sure to become the perfect mountain home away from home,” said Matthew E. Avril, president of Starwood Vacation Ownership.
The first phase of construction includes a total renovation of the common areas of the Sheraton Steamboat Resort and the conversion of the Morningside Tower into 21 vacation ownership villas and a new sales gallery. This phase is expected to open in the fall of 2008.
Future work includes a complete renovation of the 191 hotel rooms in the West Tower of the resort, including 26 Sheraton Club Level Rooms and a Club Lounge. These rooms will be completely refurbished to include new bedding and an updated decor. In addition, the East Tower, which currently includes 80 hotel rooms, will be converted into 24 two- and three- bedroom luxury vacation ownership villas.
“Combining newly upgraded hotel rooms and public facilities with the Starwood Vacation Ownership option now makes the Sheraton Steamboat a year-round resort for our guests,” added Chuck Porter, Sheraton Steamboat General Manager.
Sheraton Steamboat Resort is Steamboat Springs’ only ski-in/ski-out property and includes an 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones II championship golf course located nearby. The property also includes an 18,000-square-foot conference center and two restaurants, Sevens Restaurant and 3 Saddles Bar & Grill. Upon completion, Sheraton Steamboat Resort will feature 45 vacation ownership villas and 191 completely renovated hotel rooms and suites.
