China's biggest ever triathlon event secures CLSA as sponsor for Ironman China 70.3 The race is on 20 April 2008, in Hainan, China.

Shanghai 7 February, 2008 – Ironman China is pleased to announce that CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets (‘CLSA’), Asia’s leading independent brokerage and investment group, has become the title sponsor of Ironman China 70.3., China’s inaugural Ironman event to be held on 20 April in Haikou on the destination island of Hainan, China.
CLSA Chairman Rob Morrison said sponsorship of the first Ironman China event further strengthened the group’s active support and participation in triathlons and marathons throughout the region.
“CLSA is proud to be associated with an international event of this stature; where the participants are all peak performers and come into the race determined to outperform both their competitors’ and their own personal times.”

Reinschreiber considers Ironman China to be the world’s first destination Ironman. “Haikou is a magical place,” Reinschreiber enthuses. “The athlete experience will be unlike any other in the world. On our bike course athletes will travel from modern to old-time China and back again. The race combines all the excitement of a world-class city with a world-class triathlon race course.”
The CLSA Ironman China 70.3 race will take place on the same day as Ironman China, a first in the world-renowned Ironman series. The total entry limit for both races, CLSA Ironman China 70.3 and Ironman China is 1500.
The CLSA Ironman China 70.3 offers 25 qualifying slots to the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida. Ironman China features a professional prize purse of USD $50,000 and 50 qualifying slots for the Ironman Triathlon World Championships, which is held annually in Kona, Hawaii in October.
