United States of America (Press Release) February 8, 2008 --
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) February 8, 2008 – Children free to be? One look can say a thousand words. Anyone who’s ever had a mother give them “the look” can identify with this form of expression.
Children have an immediate response to different stimuli as opposed to adults who can sometimes have a delayed reaction to situations. Studies have shown that children who exude confidence are more willing to take risks, are more outspoken, tend to make friends more easily and feel less isolated among their peers.
S. Novella Payne, an independent casting director with Payne Casting, coaches kids and teens and helps young people find their voice to connect with the characters within them. She says, “Performing is a great way to channel nervous energy.” Payne teaches children’s acting classes at The Don’ts Of Hollywood in Los Angeles.
2008 shows great promise for The Don’ts Of Hollywood. Two of Payne’s former talents, cast in previous films, are nominated for an NAACP Image Award. “It’s very rewarding to work with unknowns and watch their careers soar,” Payne said.
In film, some of the strongest characters never utter a word. Incorporating creative exercises, scenes, improv, and mock interviews, the classes aim to encourage, motivate and inspire. Through performance, the goal is to demonstrate that you can make a statement without uttering a word and you can make an impact without doing a thing. “At The Don’ts Of Hollywood, wherever a child’s interests may lie, whether it’s to be a phenomenal soccer player, a police officer, an architect or an actor, we aim to nurture their dreams,” Payne said.
Payne began her career as an actress, studying and performing in New York City, then parlaying her talents to casting. She has worked in the entertainment industry for the past eight years. She has produced, written and directed films and has worked behind the scenes as a production manager, production coordinator, first assistant director and stand-in.
Payne casts kids and adults of all ages in various projects including indie features, commercials, webisodes, industrials and PSAs. Her latest casting effort, NATURAL BEAUTY, will screen at the Pan African Film Festival on February 8, 2008 at 3:20pm and again on February 17, 2008 at 11:00am.
