United States of America (Press Release) February 19, 2008 --
The NBA All-Star Weekend is such a huge event that it takes teams of people to put it all together to make a successful event and the hair and makeup department is such a big issue but always goes unnoticed to the viewing audience. But in major cities like here in New York and Los Angeles, it’s one of the important issues because whenever there is a large group of A-listers attending only the best glam squad is called upon. But in New Orleans, this city’s only concern was hosting a successful and needed event, booking hotel rooms, making money to help boost the city’s economy and hoping that the high crime rate doesn’t affect the downtown area. What went unnoticed was that the NBA Entertainment found its’ glam squad in a local and rising young lady, Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis, to head the makeup and hair team. The NBA asked around in the sports and beauty industry and was told that New Orleans has an upcoming artist who has worked ESPN and many big name athletes such as Brett Farve, Chris Paul, Greg Oden and Reggie Bush.
Brandy Gomez-Duplessis was hired to be the official Makeup Artist to take care of all of the A-list talent such as American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks, R&B Singer Deborah Cox, Jazz Singer Stephanie Jordan and many more that were performing and making appearances during the 3-day event. We contacted Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis by phone who was out of town working an assignment just 2 days after working such a big event in New Orleans.
Gomez-Duplessis said, “She was honored to have been selected to be the lead makeup artist. When the NBA talent coordinator JC contacted me I was on location working and she was telling me the names of celebrities I was going to be the makeup artist for. I was like how I am going to handle this gig by myself. I was trying to think of a team that I could put together as she just named over 20 people just for Friday line-up. Then I just said very calmly to JC I will have my agent Heidi at Zenobia Agency contact you. I hung up the phone and thanked GOD and hoped that this will help the world from viewing me as just a New Orleans makeup artist. The NBA brought in hairstylist Maisha Stephens from New York, who was awesome to work with. The entire weekend was amazing. Being able to work with legendary players like Magic Johnson, “Dr. J” Julius Irving, Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, and music artist such as Lamont Hibert, Dr. John, Art & Ivan Neville, Allen Toussaint, Ellis Marsalis and others was a blessing. I received so many great gifts such as airbrush makeup from David owner of OCC Makeup to use and all of the official apparel like the NBA jackets, shirts and shoes made me feel like an A-List makeup artist”.
“I am already back to work. Today I was booked by Essence Magazine to do a photo shoot next Tuesday, just received new tour dates and flight info from L’Oreal cosmetics, and Jazz Singer Stephanie Jordan booked me for a photo shoot on Thursday after working with me at NBA All-Star Weekend. Who needs a break, I am already back to living the glam life of a makeup artist”.
Brandy Gomez-Duplessis, NBA Makeup Artist and a force to be reckon with.
She is soon to be one of the busiest names in the industry already booking events for 2009, so I better schedule my dates with her now for the award shows”.

When the NBA production staff was making major decisions about All-Star Weekend in New Orleans they also had to decide on do they bring in their glam squad or do they hire a local makeup & hair team f
