East Lansing, MI, February 15, 2008 -- The first new comparative rating software product to be released in years is now available to Michigan independent insurance agencies, and it is called Evolution

Capital Software, a long time major player in the Michigan comparative rating landscape, launched its new Evolution product at the close of 2007 after an extensive reassessment of their existing product. While Capital spent 2005 and 2006 upgrading their previous software to include bridging, scoring and real-time technology, it came at the expense of ease of use.
“Our previous software was just no longer easy to use, particularly for someone new who was trying to learn it”, said Capital’s marketing manager, Mike Holverson. “We were getting feedback from many of the agents that it was just too difficult to navigate, so we evaluated it from top to bottom, listened to what the agents wanted and made some major changes. Now it’s a whole new design that is a lot simpler and easier to use, and the customers seem to love it.”
The results reportedly have been so successful that they’ve caught the Capital Software team a bit off guard. “We’ve seen our inbound calls for customer assistance drop dramatically, which was unexpected, but tells us we solved even more than our navigation problems!” said Chris Nelson, President of Capital. “There’s also been a significant pick up in new business as agents find out we have a new product out there and give it a try.”
While business is on the upswing now, Nelson says there was a price to pay in getting there. “We put an awful lot of time and effort into making this software fully customizable so that we can easily add features on the fly as our customers ask for them, and that took longer than expected. As a result we kind of got behind the eight-ball a bit and lost some ground, but now we see the business trending back. I doubt there are many others who can quickly customize their rating software to their client’s ideas like we can, so yes, it should make for an exciting year in 2008.”
