United Kingdom of Great Britain & N. Ireland (Press Release) February 20, 2008 --
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
23rd February, 2008
With all the news of multi-million dollar buyouts involving internet and technology giants, you could forgive the notion held by many aspiring start-ups that unless you have the backing of venture capitalists, your humble web start-up is doomed to fail.
Three self-funded entrepreneurs from Yorkshire, UK, are convinced they can prove that theory wrong - their weapon? A new social network for bloggers, born with the unlikely name of Pijoo.com, and built on a tiny budget of just £2000.
Launched in early February 2008, Pijoo has rapidly gained a devoted user-base of bloggers and continues to grow mostly by word of mouth, as co-founder Brett Innes explains...
"Bloggers by nature are very talkative, they love to share their latest discoveries with readers, and by aiming a social network at bloggers, we are able to spread the word quickly without spending a fortune on advertising."
As well as allowing blog authors to share their blogs with new readers, they can also use the site to meet and share tips with like-minded bloggers, track visitors and build a thriving community around their own blog.
According to Technorati, around 120,000 new blogs are created every day, and an astonishing 17 new blog posts are published every second. If Pijoo.com can tap just a portion of that, they won't be playing catch-up for very long.
