Professionals Adapt to the Wired World With E-networking
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 22, 2008 --
Chicago, IL -- The once-nebulous 'Net reinforces that it's a small world after all.
According to last summer's The Wall Street Journal article, "Social Networking Goes Professional," social networking has infiltrated the work world. Now, even executives "rub virtual elbows with colleagues." These executives practice the three steps to building business relationships online: finding, securing and completing work projects. The upcoming facilitated discussion, "Writing for the Web: How to Find, Get and Do Your Next Writing Gig Online," will get professionals of all stripes familiar with online networking.
When it comes to e-networking, the traditional rules apply. For example, give in order to receive: listen and advise twice as much as asking for help. "Have fun with powerful communication tools such as LinkedIn. You'll find it's no longer six degrees of separation to a new opportunity," says Benevich. The presentation will cover basics such as the differences between Web sites and wikis, along with tips for e-marketing and writing online posts.
The presentation arose from 10 frequently asked questions about finding work online. "More than half of the presentation will help anyone who wants to know more about online marketing or e-networking," says Benevich.
Networking and socializing begin at 5 p.m., followed by the Independent Writers of Chicago (IWOC) sponsored program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at National-Louis University, 122 South Michigan Avenue, Room 5008, Chicago. Admission includes refreshments and is free to IWOC members, $15 for nonmembers.
The third presentation in IWOC's 2008 "How To Get Hired" talk series, Benevich dedicates the evening in celebration of her fifth year as a writing consultant. "I'm giving Chicago's creatives the gift of my sweat equity," she says.
For more information about the presentation or communications in a wired world, visit Chris Benevich's blog, Litterateur, or stop by her vendor table at the Chicago Creative Expo 2008 on Saturday, April 12.
