It was about fifteen years ago when my uncle took me to the Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course to throw my first disc. I think it was a Shark… Any ways, I look back now and think how lucky I was to play my first round of disc golf at one of the first courses in the world… Every time I play; I quietly thank my Uncle Tom for introducing me to one of the greatest sports ever!

I am going somewhere with this story – Disc golf has always been a word of mouth sport, therefore relying on good samaritans to introduce fresh blood to the world of disc golf. My goal as good samaritan is to help globally brand this great sport, so one day my son who is now eight... can make me millions!!! Just kidding, well maybe not! Bottom line: encourage your friends, your kids, your brother, your sister, and your boss to play a round every once in a while. And make sure they have a good time! By: S.T.Harlan -

Keeping with Tradition

Following in his uncle’s foot steps Shawn has introduced a few more people to the game of disc golf. He showed me how to play at least 13 years ago on a small course good for beginners. So now I live in Washington DC where there aren’t any disc golf courses and one must drive to VA or MD to play one round or three.

Keeping with tradition I’ve showed a few other people the sport and they soon quickly became addicted to the sport. So much that one of my friends must have played at least 300 days in the first year I introduced it to him. He now is a registered PDGA member and is looking forward to trying to beat me this year.
