United States of America (Press Release) February 28, 2008 --
All of us know what is Viagra. But there's another drugs that help to treat erectile dysfunction - L-arginine. Like the drug sildenafil citrate (Viagra), L-arginine is thought to enhance the action of nitric oxide, which relaxes muscles surrounding blood vessels supplying the penis. As a result, blood vessels in the penis dilate, increasing blood flow, which helps maintain an erection. The difference in how they work is that Viagra blocks an enzyme called PDE5 which destroys nitric oxide and L-arginine is used to make nitric oxide.
But unlike Viagra, that is effective for up to 5 hours L-arginine must be taken daily. There's also 2 famous ed medicine working the same way that need'nt to be taken on daily basis - Cialis(up to 36 hours) and Levitra(up to 6 hours).
