On March 1, GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg launched The Burg, an online real estate blog featuring Fredericksburg real estate news, analysis and insight. On this blog, Realtors with GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg and special guest contributors representing other real estate professions will post articles relating to Fredericksburg and real estate.

“We have been adjusting our marketing to meet the insatiable demand for online real estate information, and we will continue to seek methods to improve in this area,” said Greg Oehler, broker and owner for GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg. “Our state Realtor organization, the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR), affirmed this type of internet use at the winter meeting held over the past several days in Austin, Texas, where thousands of Realtors from across the state attended.”

With the economy threatening recession and housing market turmoil in the news almost every day, home buyers and sellers are looking for more and accurate information about certain locales such as Fredericksburg. The Burg will be a reference point for these potential buyers and sellers.

“Today’s buyers like to look at not only the information sheet about the listings, they prefer to see multiple pictures and sometimes other documents related to the property such as the subdivision covenants and restrictions or a survey plat,” said Oehler, who founded Gillespie Realty—now GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg—in 1994. “Buyers today are more particular about the information they demand.”

Oehler and his agents plan to frequently post articles to keep people looking into buying or selling a property in and around Fredericksburg informed as to the current conditions of the market in Fredericksburg and any news event that may affect the market.

“Our agents have a wealth of information and have over 50 years of combined real estate experience,” Oehler said. “We are seeing a lot of mispriced property in the marketplace at this time. There are and will be more real buying opportunities in our market over this year.”

Oehler said he hopes The Burg will serve as a forum where the real estate consumer can peek into the real estate thoughts of him and his agents.

“The market is changing every day and it is difficult even for us, the people who watch it minute by minute, to keep up,” Oehler said. “Those outside the realty business may find this blog helpful.”
