United States of America (Press Release) March 3, 2008 --
Reno, NV. March 3, 2008 – Respiratory Enhancement Supply Team or R.E.S.T., we’ll provide a preset CPAP unit with humidification along with a sized disposable mask and tubing, said co-owner Christopher Depew.
“With a seven day advance notice of their destination and physician contact information, we’ll send a complete set up package to their destination. The CPAP will be preset and inspected by a respiratory therapist. The customer fills the humidifier with water and turns the unit on,” he explained.
When the customer departs, they simply discard the disposable mask, tubing and humidifier water chamber. Pack the CPAP unit along with the power cord back into the box, place the prepaid shipping label on the package and leaves it at the bell desk to be picked up.
This eliminates the burden of having to cart a CPAP with you through an airport, explaining to security their equipment, an extra carry on, or the possibility of arriving at their destination with broken equipment. Because of this, most don’t take their equipment with them. “Then they are out of compliance,” Depew said.
Depew, a former branch operations manager for a national HME company, and his partners – a respiratory therapist and a customer service supervisor – seen this daily, travelers that would come to Reno or Lake Tahoe to vacation or visit and would arrive with broken equipment. The frustrations of trying to stay compliant, then the hassle of trying to get the supplies that they need while away from home, just adds fuel to the fire.
“We want to make it easy, and we want to make it affordable,” Depew said. The company offers CPAP supplies and the travel assistance program on their website (gotrest.com). They do not bill insurances; but will accept all major credit cards.
“You focus on getting to your destination; we will have your equipment there waiting for you.”
