Award-winning debt settlement company continues charitable initiative by helping collect 1,000 coats for the DC-area homeless.
For_Immediate_Release:

United States of America (Press Release) March 4, 2008 -- Employees at Debt Shield, an award-winning debt settlement company based in Maryland, helped collect over 1,000 coats as part of an area-wide campaign to provide coats for the area's homeless.

Partnering with Nexus Society, a DC-based networking organization, Debt Shield became one of the drop-off spots for area donators and employees. Michelle Scott, a Client Advocate Supervisor at Debt Shield, helped to coordinate the donations.

“When I learned about the coat drive I knew right away this was a perfect opportunity to involve Debt Shield,” said Scott. “There was a great turnout, which is unsurprising given how generous Debt Shield employees tend to be.”

Scott said that several employees enlisted the help of their friends and family. Debt Shield CEO Phil Fewster’s mom dropped off a large box and a bag stuffed with coats. Client Accounting’s Restructuring Specialist Matt Hewitt brought in two large bags of coats from friends and family members.

“When I learned I could help out with a worthy cause and clear out my coat closet I knew it was the right thing to do,” said Hewitt. “I’m glad to help.”

This year marks the fourth annual Nexus Society coat drive and their second year partnering with Ebenezer's Homeless Ministry. Debt Shield executives and employees look forward to joining them in their efforts again next year.

Debt Shield regularly gives back to the community through this and other charitable initiatives throughout the year. Employees contribute weekly to a volunteer Denim Fund in exchange for wearing jeans to work on Fridays.
