Vietnamese Americans, Young and Old will cross paths and compete in a hosting competition that gives them an opportunity to interact with the Vietnamese American Community.

Westminster, CA (March 9th) When was the last time you saw a Vietnamese American Host on Television? Chances are, unless you watch Vietnamese Television, the answer is never. Saigon TV is a Vietnamese American TV station that appeals to the young and older generations.
We are proud to announce our newest show, The Next Saigon TV Host. Its format is similar to “American Idol” with 3 judges that eliminate contestants based on their skill. N.S.H. seeks to find hosts/news anchors, that can interact and appeal to the Vietnamese American Community, young and old. The show will be in English for the most part, but the real challenge for the younger contestants is speaking in Vietnamese, and vice versa for the older contestants
For 15 weeks and 15 episodes, N.S.H. will take a selected group of Vietnamese Americans through different workshops including; interview, teleprompter use, product endorsements, produce, live and special community events. Unlike “American Idol” there will be multiple winners selected, with the grand prizes of hosting contracts and the option to produce their own show. Winners will be selected based on the judge’s opinions and the viewer’s votes. Voting will be tallied via telephone and Internet.
Why are they doing this?
Saigon TV is unique in that its production team is young, and its marketing team is older. They work with the cultural gap that separates different Vietnamese American generations everyday. N.S.H. is the perfect medium to bring together Vietnamese Americans of different generations and backgrounds to compete, laugh, and understand each other. We have opportunities for sponsors on our show and can have products and services featured.
When is does it start?
The first N.S.H. will start the competition Sunday, March 9th 2008. Over 100 Vietnamese Americans of all different backgrounds are expected to show up, with friends and family to support. They will range from professional/amateur actors, restaurant owners, famous Vietnamese singers/hosts, dancers, poets, and students. There will be some contestants that will be traveling from out of state to compete. The first episode will have the most contestants cut and will determine the competitors for the first N.S.H.. It will be held at Vien Dong Daily Newspaper at 1:30pm.
