Argentina, Argentine Republic (Press Release) March 12, 2008 -- Expanish first began in 2006 working with partner language schools in South America. On January 7, 2008, Expanish opened the doors of its own Spanish school in Buenos Aires to international visitors seeking to not only learn Spanish but to immerse themselves in local Argentine culture. With two years of experience as a language travel agency hosting students on Spanish immersion programs around South America, Expanish has now used its expertise and the knowledge of its international staff to open what will be the first of several language schools in Spanish-speaking countries, beginning with Buenos Aires, the founding home of Expanish.

Since the school's opening just two months ago, the student body has quintupled, due in large part to highly positive student reviews of the quality of teaching and courses on offer, and particularly the accompanying weekly activities and workshops that are available for students, where they can practice their newfound Spanish skills. Many students have extended their programs to keep their base in the Expanish school, a French-style building in the heart of Buenos Aires just two blocks away from the famous 'Obelisco,' a Buenos Aires landmark.

The school's inaugural event held on March 5, 2008, was a great success; guests were treated to the wines and champagnes supplied by event sponsor and award-winning winery of Trivento, located in Mendoza, Argentina, known for producing some of the finest wines in Argentina and as a main exporter of Argentine wines abroad.

The opening ceremony was also held in conjunction with the first meeting of the newly formed TEN (Travel & Education Network), an international consortium bringing together government and embassy officials, businesses and charities in the fields of tourism, volunteering, education and other travel-related industries, as well as students from all over the world, most notably from Europe and the United States. Expanish played host to TEN and its inaugural meeting in Buenos Aires, with all those involved in the local travel and education industries in attendance for the first of what will be a bi-monthly event hosted at the Expanish School.

Event guests commented on the superb facilities of the new school and the engaging atmosphere of the launch. Pedro Cifuentes, editor for Microsoft Encarta Spain, remarked, "Everyone here is young, dynamic, and with a strong desire to learn - it appears Expanish is not only an excellent place to learn Spanish, but also an important space for intercultural and social exchange."

Expanish offers Spanish language courses as well as university study abroad programs in Argentina, local accommodations, weekend and day excursions, workshops, and volunteer and internship placements.
