FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 13, 2008 --
EscapAid is a new and exciting adventure activity company based in the Peak District. The company was set up in 2007 and is working alongside the University of Derby to provide people with the greatest family fun day out to hit the Peak District in years. Held on Saturday 3rd May 2008 from 10am-6pm and set in the picturesque village of Edale, surrounded by rolling hills and breathtaking scenery, 30 teams of three or four will take on a variety of thrilling challenges. They will compete for numerous top prizes and the title of EscapAid Champion. The three elements of the day will test your abilities as a team to the max!
Element one, the team building, without giving too much away, involves ropes, wood, buckets, plates, water, marbles and many other random objects and will put your problem solving skills to the test. You can confront your fears with element two, the man made relay mountain bike track and put your navigation skills to the test with element three, the orienteering treasure hunt. It will take you round the amazing skyline of Edale, to the Iron Age fort on the historic Mam Tor or the quaint villages surrounding Edale, dependant on the route you chose.
“The best thing about this day is that no matter what level your skills are at, you can still take part. We are actively encouraging novices to take part so we can teach them how to navigate and teach them the safe and sustainable use of the outdoors” says Helen Cooper, Project Manager of EscapAid.
This event, supported by the University of Derby Buxton is raising money for the following fantastic charities: Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, a major provider of healthcare for children and young people in South Yorkshire and beyond; Challenge Cancer Through Adventure who support adventurous activities for anyone diagnosed with cancer or a terminal illness living and Mountain Recue who provide a invaluable service to anyone in distress in upland areas surrounding Edale.
As well as supporting these charities, EscapAid also seeks to encourage people of all ages and lifestyles into the outdoors. We endeavour to promote the importance of environmental sustainability so that generations to come can appreciate the splendour that we have managed to maintain. We are also dedicated to supporting and sustaining the local communities.
The site, next to the main car park in Edale Village and only a 5 min walk from the train station will have a bouncy castle and face painting for some extra entertainment for the little ones. There will be food available onsite and there two brilliant pubs in Edale if you prefer a more hearty meal. Why not make a weekend of it and stay in one of the many fantastic B&B’s or continue with the outdoor spirit and camp in one of the many campsites (see our website for further information).
The entry costs for this event are £40 per team and information packs can be downloaded from our website or sent out to you by post. This will include sponsorship forms along with material for helping to improve your knowledge of outdoor activities before the big day. We will provide you with a fantastic day out in the country
