BARBADOS first-rate reputation for excellence in destination management has been further enhanced and could see tangible benefits.
This follows a good showing by the Horizon Coaches & Tours (HCT), a division of Barbados Conference Services Ltd (BC SL), at the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) Caribbean Marketplace 2008.
The destination management division formed part of a large contingent of over 15 companies who exhibited in the Barbados section of the marketplace held recently at the Atlan tis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas.
It was also the first time that the services of the HCT division were extensively promoted at the event.
Shelley Miller, Marketing & Sales Manager with BCSL, who represented HCT along with Finance Manage r, Mrs. Antoinette Bennett at the three-day marketing fair said two intense days of business appointments yielded positive results for HCT.
Miller said HCTs presence at CHA Marketplace 2008 offered an excellent opportunity for attracting group and the free independent traveller (FIT) business and promoting the destination management services offered by the division. She said it was also important to note that the companys continued presence at such shows, allowed for increased brand awareness an d in some instances brand loyalty as operators tended to remain close to their established links.
She said HCT was able to successfully secure a significant number of appointments as well as interact with various buyers, adding the key to reaping t angible benefits for HCT and the local industry by extension was now down to the efficacy of the follow-up process.
Caribbean Marketplace 2008 has been described as record breaking having played host to 1 400 delegates from the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Latin America, Asia- Pacific, Africa, and Europe, 400 booths and over 16 000 scheduled appointments. The event attracted many buyers, including wholesalers, incentive buyers, meeting planners, group buyers, and dive shop owners from all the mentioned markets.
