Canada (Press Release) March 14, 2008 --
Unique Learning Experience for Riders Of All Disciplines At All Levels
Josh Lyons, one of America’s most dynamic and inspiring clinicians, is coming to Canada to host a rare three-day symposium at Five Star Ranch in Campbellville, Ontario from April 18,to the 20th. Immediately following the symposium, Gail Haynes -- a Double-Certified John Lyons trainer and Level 2 Equine Canada Coach -- will host a three-day rider clinic to give riders an opportunity to practice the foundation exercises used in the symposium.
†
“This is a unique opportunity for horse enthusiasts – English and Western, any discipline – to improve the level of communication, understanding, responsiveness and performance of their horse from one of North America’s most talented and respected horse trainers today,” said Gail Haynes, owner/operator of Five Star Ranch and host of the Josh Lyons Symposium. “Josh will cover a wide variety of topics that will benefit riders at every level of performance and leave them with proven tools to improve all aspects of the horse-rider relationship.”
The Josh Lyons symposium will cover things like getting your horse soft in the bridle, controlling individual body parts for lateral movements, improving ground manners, trailer loading, eliminating undesirable behaviours, starting an unbroken horse, and preparing your horse for driving. Maneuvers such as side pass, two track, half pass, turn on the forehand, haunches, leads, flying changes and much more will be covered.
Fundraising Opportunity for Farms, Saddle Clubs, Groups
Five Star Ranch is very pleased to offer farms, saddle clubs or groups of friends a chance to get free tickets to the Symposium or to create a fundraiser. For every ten weekend passes sold, Five Star will offer one free weekend pass (value $125). Contact Five Star for more information on how to have a successful fund-raiser for your club or farm.
“The fund-raiser is a win win for all. †It can be for an individual who wants to lower the cost for each individual in their group by dividing the savings, or for stable owners or store owners to have gifts or prizes for employees or customers, or for any one to raise funds for a club, association or for their stable,” said Haynes. †“In the end, we all win because we will be spreading the knowledge we gain deeper into the industry.” †
Rider Clinic Provides Opportunity to Put Learnings Into Practice†
After the 3-day Josh Lyons Symposium, Five Star Ranch’s Gail Haynes will host a 3-day clinic, giving students an opportunity to put into practice some of the techniques discovered at the Symposium. The clinic, which is intended for riders of all levels and in any discipline, will cover giving to the bit, improving softness and suppleness, control of the shoulders (clockwork), hip control for side pass, lead change preparation (hip, shoulder, shoulder), the calm down cue, teaching your horse to drop its head (controlling elevation of the head) and more. †Participants can bring your own horse or rent one of ours.
Haynes’ philosophy of a broke horse goes beyond accepting the saddle and a rider with basic control. Haynes believes that a truly broke horse needs to have great ground manners, be able to handle the stresses of shows, trails, and loud noises, and be completely safe under saddle.
“The foundation of all this training is to create a safe, happy responsive horse at whatever level of performance you choose -- safe for your kids to ride around the backyard, or for trail riding, or to compete at an international level in any discipline. This clinic provides an opportunity to learn how to bring your horse to a higher level of safety and performance,” explains Haynes.
†
“Having come through the Western Coaching program under Gail’s tutelage, I can attest to her skill as a mentor who truly understands horses and who gets results for virtually any problem or goal a rider may have,” said Maureen Juniper, a long-time student of Gail’s and owner of two horses. “I saw changes in my horses that I never thought were possible with the help of Gail’s depth of knowledge and effective training techniques. In a word, Gail gets RESULTS, whatever that may mean to you.”
