FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 28, 2008 -- The New Hampshire tourism industry and related businesses will meet May 5 to 7, 2008, at the 32nd Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism, to discuss future tourism industry trends and how to prepare for the future. Governor John Lynch is also expected to meet with tourism leaders, state officials, and business owners to discuss the State¹s future tourism investment. T

“Travel and tourism in New Hampshire is big business,” says NHTC chairman, Ben Wilcox. “Our multi-billion dollar industry affects everyone, from our 67,000 industry employees to the State’s more than 33 million annual visitors. Income generated by visitors contributes significantly to state revenues and to communities from Nashua to Colebrook.”

State of NH tourism officials will also take input from attendees that will contribute to the development of a 10-year tourism plan to be presented to the Governor for approval at the end of 2008. The plan will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing New Hampshire tourism in a changing economy.

The 2008 Governor’s Conference steering committee is composed of a diverse group of state-wide, tourism-focused associations, including the New Hampshire Travel Council, the NH Restaurant and Lodging Association, Ski NH, the NH Travel and Tourism Advisory Committee, the Governor¹s Office, and the NH Travel and Tourism Office.

The conference will feature two nationally recognized speakers. Roger Brooks will discuss "The New Age of Tourism" to give attendees a peek at trends and practices to prepare for the future. Brooks is member of the award-winning Destination Development team, and has worked in tourism and economic development for more than 20 years. Co-author of the book “The 25 Immutable Rules of Successful Tourism,” Brooks’ knowledge of the industry includes dozens of case histories full of how-they-did-it examples.

Josh Hallett will give an inside look at social media. Hallett is an internationally recognized leader in the convergence of social media with corporate public relations and marketing. Hallett works as New Media Strategist at Voce Communications, providing social media consulting and development for brands like Yahoo and Sony Computer Entertainment America.

A new environmental theme will look at how adopting green business practices is not just good for the planet, but good for business. Workshops will be offered on energy management and hedging future costs.

The Marketplace is new this year. Attendees can tour exhibits that present marketing development strategies for their businesses. The exhibits will feature web developers, media representatives, marketing companies, and printing companies. The New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development marketing update, presentation of New Hampshire Travel Council Awards, and breakout sessions will round out the meetings.
