Emily Numbers is a 15-year-old student from Macedonia, OH who has high aspirations not only for herself, but also for others, especially youngsters, who are considering pursuing a dream. When Emily was a sixth-grader and surpassed her curriculum expectations in language arts, her parents were looking for a way to challenge her and began the process of helping her learn how to get her writing published. The result was the creation Emily’s first children’s book entitled, Lost and Found, Safe and Sound, published when she was a mere 11 years old.
Since publishing Lost and Found 4 years ago, an engaging story about the emotions a youngster goes through while losing and then finding her Mom in a grocery store, Emily has been busy promoting herself and her book by presenting at elementary and middle schools in her area. The teen enjoys educating young children on the lesson her book teaches, but more importantly, her very presence at their school as a young author proves to them that significant accomplishments in life are not reserved just for adults.
Numbers admits that going after a dream can be scary and definitely entails a lot of work. However, she believes that sometimes the best things in life come to fruition only after a lot of time and fortitude but the rewards are often well worth the effort it in the end. The main message Emily wants to get across, especially to young folks, is that ones dreams are not just fantasy but are very reachable. “If you are determined, believe in yourself and are willing to put in the effort you can make it happen,” states Numbers.
As a 10th grader at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, OH, Emily is still in the process of discovering which paths her talents will ultimately lead her. The one thing she’s fairly certain about, however, is that her purpose will include some form of writing or art and that it will undoubtedly, in some way, help others. Emily exemplifies what her literary consultant, Lisa Umina, of Halo Publishing International has been promoting as her mission and that is, no matter what your age, happiness and fulfillment stem from having a purpose and pursuing your dreams. HPI recently announced its Halo Young Author Program. This program is designed to give students in elementary and middle schools a "real life" experience that culminates in the publication of a book.
You can order her book by visiting local bookstores in the greater Cleveland/Akron area: Crooked River Reading Company at the Cleveland Galleria, Joseph-Beth Booksellers at Legacy Village, Amazon.com and Target.com.
