United States of America (Press Release) April 2, 2008 --
Hi Everyone.. I wanted to write about something a little different than just business, you know something fun. So I thought what hobbies do I have: gardening, reading, traveling and ..and … that’s when the little light bulb went off over my head! YEP! I love MOVIES! I have watched thousands of movies so why not give my opinion. So for fun, here are my “Views and Reviews” I hope you enjoy and please feel free to comment!! SunriseSunsetGal
Monday’s in the Sun…
Spanish sub titled movie staring Javier Bordeem.
We Americans are not the only people on the earth that have issues, this movie was about economic perils in Spain and how 5 mutual co-workers and friends lost their job in a Spanish port shipyard. It also depicted how their wives cooped or didn’t actually didn’t coop. The men spent most of their time going to job interviews watching the companies always interview and hire the younger men or women. It also showed how the companies only wanted computer operators or specialty experience. The men were blue collar workers so they felt useless. To cope they mostly drank at a friends bar. One funny part was when they made extra money: by allowing one of their daughters to get babysitting jobs, then the daughter left while the men stayed with the children! The bedtime story was enlightening to say the least. The climax of the movie was about one of the co-workers that was worse off than the others but never told anyone. His wife left him, he had no heat, or water, then ultimately died. The remaining friends realized their lives could be worse but they did have each other!
Now, my review, very good acting, sad yet funny in parts. It showed perils of becoming middle age that no one likes to think about especially in work life. It gave a grave yet realistic view of how business wants mostly the young . It also displayed what the men went through just to have a job. One great scene was when one guy tried to dye his hair to cover the grey and look younger. The scenic shots were beautiful : Spanish coastline, ocean, sunny days, yet it also showed the dirty parts of the city focusing on living without the bare necessities and being down and out. If you don’t like subtitled movies, this one is not for you. The subtitles and conversation were long enough to read, plus it had a lot of shots that didn’t need subtitles. I’d recommend watching ..
