United States of America (Press Release) April 8, 2008 --
Cathryn Michael Murray a well known model and actress in San Francisco has seen so many scams and cons in the modeling community online. I have been online for a few years and have seen pretty much all kinds of scams. I pretty much know what is legit and what is not legit. And most recently, Cathryn found out about another scam online. Warning others is something Cathryn feels strongly about. The largest Social Networking Site which is Myspace.com is a great place for talent like herself. Boosting over 200 million users, Myspace.com makes it possible for Cathryn To continue networking and reach thousands of people who support her mission. Cathryn also started Sassy Sistah Magazine, which is an online webzine Sassy Sistah Magazine is a monthly 'webzine produced on the web that focuses on achieving dreams and overcoming obstacles. The main focus is to eliminate the labels placed on models in the fashion industry. Sassy Sistah Magazine does not discriminate against size, and welcomes models of all shapes and sizes to join and become apart of our Sassy Sistah Community. We are open to models of all shapes and sizes, models that are often overlooked and have not gained exposure on the web. We market the under dogs, the ones that other magazines online have over looked or have not given positive recognition to. We hope to be the leader in positive friendly web zines for the fashion industry. So Myspace.com makes it possible to reach more young models and talent. But since Myspace is a Web 2.0 social networking site, this has also causes people to come into contact with a lot of people that people don't really know. Myspace.com is not really a bad place, but the problem is that a lot of people are too trusting and trust everything they read. That is where it is is important to have parents and others that can be there to listen to our young people. Recently myspace.com teamed up with Ikeepsafe.com. With all the negative news about Myspace.com, we rarely see anything positive. So I think that it is about time we start showcasing the positive things Myspace.com is doing. Cathryn Strongly supports Ikeepsafe.com. What I have also discovered are a lot of things on myspace.com are not true. For instance, The Tyra Banks Show producers are on the site, but they simply allow other fake tyra pages to exist on the web. I have noticed tons of pages that claim they are tyra banks. Since I've appeared on THE TYRA BANKS SHOW in 2006, I pretty much know which pages are legit and which are not. I have seen young girls give personal information out to the fake pages and then when they find out the truth they are devasted. After contacting the show producers I am simply ignored or told they can't do anything. That is the major problem with myspace.com and the internet. People are way too trusting and believe in things that are simply not real. Cathryn thinks that educating the public, especially teenagers are important.
As a model and talent, Cathryn Michael is also an activist. She works full time also but looking to speak with schools and organizations on the dangerous of the internet. Cathryn has a lot of knowledge and also feels she could help inspire other young people. I have been through a lot and I am still here...I know that my life could of been different, but I chose a different path. I hope to be a positive role model for others, especially other talents. Cathryn Michael has received numerous awards for her work with Global Teen Club International, a program she founded at the age of 12. This past year she appeared in a bus ad campaign for County Connection Transportation Authority in the Sf bay area.
