United States of America (Press Release) April 11, 2008 --
Christian Rites of Passage (CRoP), Inc, a 501©3 nonprofit organization, is proud to announce it will host a community-wide yard sale on May 17, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cascade United Methodist Church (UMC). The yard sale will serve as a fundraiser and a bridge building event within the Atlanta community. Yard sales are a summertime staple and CRoP invites Atlanta to shop and celebrate spiritually.
Samantha Wallace, Fundraising Chair, touts, “This mega fundraiser is a family affair and Christian Rites of Passage is excited to host the community-wide yard sale. Our efforts will support our future leaders and strengthen our relationship with the surrounding community.”
The Atlanta community can donate clean, gently used items, such as books, CDs, artwork, clothing, dinette sets, small appliances, lawn furniture, etc. that will be on sale at the yard sale. CRoP will begin accepting donations at the rear entrance of Cascade UMC from May 14-16 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Contributors who donate items will receive a tax write-off and all proceeds from the yard sale will benefit CRoP. In the event of inclement weather, the sale will commence in the Cascade UMC Fellowship Hall.
Tenth and 11th grade Atlanta area high school students participate in the CRoP program. Every month, youth take part in educational sessions, cultural activities and community service projects. After transitioning through the 12 Christian Rites of Passage program, students will participate in the culminating event, which is a Christian Debutante & Beau Recognition Celebration Ball. Students are formally introduced to families, friends and esteemed civic leaders as beacons of Christian leadership.
Cascade UMC is located at 3144 Cascade Road Southwest in Atlanta. For more information, visit www.christianritesofpassageinc.org.
