April 9, 2008 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-- The Prayer Channel, the center for
religious, educational and cultural programming in the New York area, has
announced the launch of www.WatchThePope.com, a comprehensive online guide to
the US Papal visit, including a media and Papal schedule, educational tools, and
a live online video feed of the 24-hour cable network.
Christopher Quinn, General Manager of the Prayer Channel announced the launch of
the website and media schedule today. “We are extremely excited to offer such
extensive coverage of such a historic event on The Prayer Channel and to be able
to share that experience with a worldwide audience via www.WatchThePope.com. We
are also pleased to announce that veteran news anchor Jane Hanson will be
hosting, providing commentary and conducting interviews with special guests
during our live coverage of the Pope in Washington DC and New York."
The website (www.WatchThePope.com) will be the portal to The Prayer Channel
programming, incorporating viewing schedules, displaying educational projects by
students and includes activities, video, writing projects and an "Eyewitness
Blog" to record the experiences of varied individuals throughout the Diocese
during the Papal visit. There is also an area to view the Prayer Channel in a 24
hour, 7 day live feed, as well as whimsical activities such as the downloadable
"Watch The Pope" wallpaper for your iPhone and the "Do-It-Yourself Mitre Hat."
The new programming schedule and WatchThePope.com website launch are being
supported with an advertising campaign created by Cesario Migliozzi, llc. of Los
Angeles. Television ads can be seen locally on CNN, FOX News Channel, FOX
Business Channel and The History Channel as well as in radio, print and outdoor
advertising.
The Prayer Channel is a 24-hour cable network affiliated with the Roman Catholic
Diocese of Brooklyn. Launched on January 1, 1988, The Prayer Channel reaches
viewers in four of the five boroughs of the City of New York via Time Warner
Cable (Channel 97), Cablevision (Channel 30) and beyond via the worldwide web
with viewers as far as Europe and India. The Prayer Channel serves the
spiritual, community and educational needs of people of all faiths and cultures.
