Monroe County Sheriffs Department Key West ignores locals who stole yacht then destroyed it.
Ohio family homeless now and out $200,000 dollars while police do nothing

Monroe County Sheriifs recieved a call from an Ohio couple who had their yacht stolen. The police wernt even interested in investigating until the couple called them again after finding the stolen yacht in the thieves possession. The yacht had been chained up to a dock and wires hanging from ignition where it had been hotwired. Police report shows officer went to scene verified yacht chained up and dismantled and went into the location to see what was going on. As soon as a local with deep pockets said "he owes us money" the officer dropped the case and filed it as a civil matter. During this time the thieve that took yacht 23 miles up the keys also lied to a U.S. Navy engineer and F.W.C police officer saying he (the thief) owned the yacht. The F.W.C. officer handed over a $200,000 yacht with no identification or proof of ownership.
