The Museum Store Association (MSA) has presented Sallie Stutz, vice director of merchandising at The Brooklyn Museum and former MSA board president, with the association’s M Award.

DENVER, CO – The Museum Store Association (MSA) has presented Sallie Stutz, vice director of merchandising at The Brooklyn Museum and former MSA board president, with the association’s highest member honor, the M Award. The M Award recognizes long-term dedication and loyalty to MSA through creativity, effectiveness and the spirit of volunteerism and support. Sallie was honored at the 53rd MSA Retail Conference & Expo in Tampa on April 13, 2008.
During her tenure as MSA Board President in 2006 – 2007, Sallie began the implementation of our Strategic Plan. Under her leadership, she initiated the strategic program assessment of MSA’s existing programs and services, pushed ahead the strategic partnership with the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council and the Shop America Alliance, and helped launch the successful membership development campaign with Marketing General Inc. Since leaving office, Sallie has continued to serve whenever asked, most recently by joining the board in February to help in the review of our Strategic Plan, and also has continued to work as a key member of the Knowledge Standards Work Group.
Lorelei Rowars of The Newark Museum mentored Sallie and said, “Sallie is the consummate professional; always generous with creative ideas and supportive of her colleagues. Her energy and fun-loving spirit are contagious.”
Sallie became a member of MSA in 1994. She has had a long career in retail, both for-profit and not-for-profit, including work at Macy’s, the South Street Seaport, the New York Botanical Garden and currently the Brooklyn Museum.
Sallie has volunteered her time and served MSA in countless different capacities: as a chapter officer 1995 and in 2004; as a member of the 1999 Program Resource Group; on the Sam Greenberg Committee in 1996 and 1997; on the Nominating Committee in 2004 and 2007; and on MSA’s board of directors as secretary, director at large and most recently, as MSA President in 2006 – 2007.
To each commitment, Sallie has brought her calm good sense, a keen analytical mind and her unique and wonderful sense of humor. To quote Katie Burke from Pomegranate: “Sallie possesses infectious, upbeat energy that makes her a great manager, a great business associate and a great friend to many people.”
