The 6th training seminar Strategy of Intellectual Property protection for the successful development of company took place on April, 15-18 in Moscow organized by the leading law firm in IP field Gorodissky and partners. Valery Narezhny, a managing partner of Levant & partners law firm, was invited by Gorodissky and partners firm to represent a report “Intellectual property as a tool of tax optimization”. The presentation took place within the framework of the 6th training seminar.
Mr. Narezhny described the use of intellectual property in tax planning process and the difficulties in tax optimization. In the course of report there will be also examined the concepts of the intangible assets for purposes of taxation, royalty as the secondary distribution form of profit and tax burden in multilevel business- structures.
“Royalty is a convenient form of tax optimization for the Russian organizations. According to paragraph 37, p. 1 part 246 Russian Federation Tax Code the royalty are the expenditures, connected with production and realization It decreases taxable base for tax on profit of organization. Moreover, since January 1, 2008, the enforcement on Intellectual Property objects use, payments for which are royalty, will not be assessed by value-added tax”, - Valery Narezhny stated.
Among the firms presented there were: Adidas, Garant-Invest, Schlumberger, SEA International LTD, Odnoklassniki, Uniliver, etc.
Leading Russian patent attorneys and lawyers, and also chief experts from the USA and Germany presented their reports dedicated to contemporary strategies according to effective protection and control of the intellectual property of company on Russian, European and US markets.
Seminar was oriented to leaders of companies, financial directors, business managers, lawyers, patent attorneys, economists, marketing advisors and advertisement, designers, etc.
