Indian Ironman Triathlon athlete Anuradha finishes 4th in China

Bangalore, 24th April, 2008: Ironman Triathlon athlete Anuradha Vaidyanathan who recently attended a triathlon event in China on the 21st April has returned victorious. Being the sole Indian among 70 women and 200 men from all over the world, Anuradha stood 4th in her age group, 19th on the run and 29th overall. The China triathlon held at Haikou, includes a 3.8K swim, 180K bike and 42.2K run.
“I was the sole Indian participant at this race and I had an amazing race” says Anuradha, just after the event. At temperatures ranging from 25-35 degrees and with humidity of 94%, the race began with the swim in the South China Sea which she finished in 94 minutes.
“My previous best swim was in 80 minutes but, I was not unhappy. I made up with the bike ride and finished it in 6 hours 41 minutes, improving by more than half an hour than my previous best bike”, adds Anuradha.
She finished 35 minutes behind the last professional athlete, outran one professional woman and man, and she is thrilled to be approaching the big leagues as far as racing on the Ironman circuit goes.
Anuradha who is also the CEO of a patent consultancy is now on to her next big race - work. Ask her what next and pat comes the answer. “As usual, my schedule is a nightmare and I have to ship out for work on May 15th for a tradeshow in Pennsylvania.”
