United States of America (Press Release) April 29, 2008 --
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 28, 2008 – Today marks the official launch of BlackPodcastNetwork.com, the only online directory and service focused exclusively on housing and creating Black podcasts. With the fast paced growth of the podcast industry, current projections by industry experts put the total number of US based podcast subscribers at nearly 30 million by the close of 2008 – inherently increasing the demand for more podcasts and podcast content. From large corporations to beginning artists looking to show case their talents, the practice of podcasting is catching on rapidly. African Americans, a group traditionally lacking access to mainstream distribution channels, are beginning to rely much more on the internet to grow their business, advertise, showcase their talents or simply get their voice heard – bypassing radio and television all together.
As the number of Black Podcasts and podcast subscribers increase, husband and wife team, Lawrence Davis Jr. and NaShawndra Jackson-Davis, began working on the online directory for black podcasts and service offerings to assist African Americans interesting in podcasting. “Having both iPods and Zunes in our household, we are avid podcast subscribers. However when looking for black related podcasts it was like searching for a needle in a haystack,” describes NaShawndra. “The popular podcast directories have thousands of podcasts yet no way to easily identify those created and distributed by African Americans.”
The purpose of BlackPodcastNetwork.com is also to support and assist prospective black podcasters in their goals of creating and launching a podcast. The service offering includes podcast creation, podcast mastering, syndication and subscription assistance as well as other consulting services. Through their combined leadership and skills sets, NaShawndra being a former strategic consultant and corporate strategist and Lawrence a music producer, the couple believes BlackPodcastNetwork.com could prove to be a critical foundation for the growth of African American participation and education on podcasting. It is also a user friendly director for the millions of mp3 and mp4 carrying subscribers to easily find black podcast content.
“Podcasting is certainly a growing industry” explains Lawrence, referring to the physical indicators around him, “Our car came standard with an iPod jack.”
