Bob Burns Golf is set to debut NEW geometrically shaped No Bananas driver
For_Immediate_Release:

United States of America (Press Release) May 2, 2008 -- APPLETON, WI (March 24, 2008) - - NEW for 2008 – No Bananas D.A.T. driver. The fifth generation of No Bananas drivers from Bob Burns Golf.

A year after its conception, with refinements by lead designer Chris Burns, Bob Burns Golf is proud to announce the fifth generation “No Bananas” drivers— the Draw Alignment Technology (DAT) Driver.

New concepts and innovations in today’s golf industry are always a challenge, but the DAT’s design sets it completely apart— where triangular meets traditional. As it rounds from the toe to the rear, with a heel that is sharp and triangular, the DAT’s shape is similar to that of an airplane wing. Though this profile and high MOI design was difficult to achieve, the result is a superior golf club.

In today’s environment, more exact specifications need to be reached to manufacture a perfect golf club. Today’s radically shaped geometrical drivers, fairway metals and hybrids are thoroughly researched and developed to achieve a specific look, feel, performance and even acoustical sound. In fact, acoustical testing and research was a focal point in developing the D.A.T. Through extensive customer surveys, we discovered that the sound was an integral part of a club’s performance. In order to avoid the loud “tinny” sound that square drivers often produce, we developed a progressively sloping crown with three rails centered that arc toward the heel. Ridges reinforce the ultra-light crown and project the impact sound waves towards, instead of away, from the clubhead, thus producing a distinct, powerful sound.

The D.A.T. 460cc—The staff at Bob Burns Golf have shown many of our slicing customers the advantage of the DAT design, where “DAT” means not only the most recent in Draw Alignment Technology, but also Distinctively Aerodynamic [and Acoustical] Trademarks. As viewed from the side, the DAT’s profile bears a notable resemblance to an airplane’s wing. Though the DAT, with its shallower face (about 1/3rd” shallower than the face of the Classic 460cc) is forged of Beta Titanium, its elongated convex crown is made of an ultra-light titanium alloy which allows us to redistribute its weight toward both toe and heel, producing a lighter-than-average clubhead (196 grams), all resulting in optimal clubhead-speed and stability at impact. Most notable is the DAT’s unusual inside-out sightline, created by three very slightly raised ridges on its crown, each lightly marked in gray. These ridges create two slightly recessed aerodynamic channels that gradually curve from front-center of the crown toward the rear of the heel; this provides the weekend golfer with both visual and physical aids to an inside-out swing, thus reducing dramatically the tendency to slice. Additionally, the grounding surface of the sole reinforces the sightline on the crown, and the central surface of the sole likewise curves from front-center toward the rear of the heel. When a golfer places the sole of the DAT lightly on a flat surface, the clubface closes naturally by a substantial 7°, as if the sole were acting like a broad keel to lead the backswing from inside to out—again, encouraging a straighter drive.

The options available for grips and shafts are similar to those listed for the Classic 460cc, though the DAT is also available with a lighter grip. As an added bonus, the 2008 DAT driver’s stock shaft is an Aldila NV, or proprietary, 55-gram No Bananas graphite shaft. Look for a “draw bias” version and matching 300cc, 15* 2-wood later this season.

Next to the geometrically shaped heads, shaft interchangeability is the next hottest technology in the golf industry. The No Bananas product line including the new No Bananas D.A.T. driver will offer an upgrade option. This unique and innovative driver system will have an interchangeable shaft system so golfers can buy multiple heads and or shafts to achieve a desired launch angle and maximize performance. So that no matter what conditions you face or how your game progresses, you are ready to play.

The D.A.T. driver debuted in the May issue of Golf Tips Magazine, which proclaimed, “DAT’s cool”.
